Reduce risk of losing items on backfeed error

This is a rough for preventing is from losing items when backfeed throws an error. The items are added to a backfeed_retry set. The way to lose items now is when an error is thrown that prevents writing to this set. rebeam commit ff57dbb637 handles offloading this new channel.

This partially fixes issue #8.
